Mark Rafacz has been an NRHA professional since the 1980′s and is experienced in all of the major aspects of the reining horse industry including starting young horses, futurity horses, and preparing horses for major NRHA events. He pays particular attention to maintaining show horses for longevity in the reining arena; accordingly, many horses under his care and supervision are riding even better at the end of a show season. Originally from Illinois, Mark moved his business to Ocala, Florida in 1994 to take advantage of the ability to train outside all year long. Since then his business has grown and is now home to world champions, derby winners and All American Quarter Horse Congress champions. Many trainers concentrate on just training horses; others on just coaching Non Pro riders. Mark’s program gives clients the best of both worlds. In addition to his horse training program, he has extensive experience coaching Non Pros and has developed the understanding needed to prepare horses for their Non Pro riders. Mark has coached many of his Non Pro clients to derby championships, Congress wins, world titles and top ten finishes. Some of the most recent are in our Recent News section. Mark and his clients’ show records are extensive. Recently, Mark piloted Shooting Taw to the 2008 NRHA Novice Open Reserve World Championship. While NRHA is Mark’s primary focus, he is no stranger to breed association events in both AQHA and Appaloosa reining, including winning the Reining Futurity at the Appaloosa World Show. Mark and his wife Shannon have one daughter, Madison. Shannon manages the day-to-day office duties and oversees show scheduling. Like Mark, Shannon, is no stranger to the NRHA show pen, as an eleven-time NRHA World Champion as well as multiple Congress wins and USEF championships, she is a knowledgeable asset to the business.
